Parent Trust Ongoing Group Structure
The Parent Trust group functions as an ongoing, informal, parent-to-parent support program utilizing the following standards.
Group Process
Important Components
The group should have a healthy combination of these important components:
- Venting
- Problem Solving
- Celebrating
Time Allotment
A timekeeper is assigned to make sure all the participants have time to talk.
Format
Shared Leadership
Parents perform duties or tasks that help the group run effectively.
Adult Learning Process
Selected topics or group discussions meet the immediate needs of each parent, thus enhancing individual learning capabilities.
Mutual-Support
Parents are encouraged to seek support and advice from each other.
Ongoing
Group meetings follow a regular schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, 3 times a month).
Confidential
What is shared in the group stays in the group.
Free
There are no costs for parent/guardians wishing to join.
No Waiting List
New families can join at any time.
