Crystal Munson

Classes Taught:
Childbirth Preparation Series

Background:
Crystal is a Great Starts™ Certified Childbirth Educator. She has Birth Assistant training for out of hospital births, and has worked as an administrator for a team of Certified Nurse Midwives.

Philosophy:
Childbirth Education is an important part of engaging in a new adventure. It’s unlikely you’d embark on a backpacking trip around Europe without doing research, making plans, and figuring out what would make your trip most enjoyable for YOU. And, despite all the information available digitally, there is something unique about connecting with people in person who are also planning a trip; sharing resources, hearing new questions, and learning together.

My goal is that these classes will not only give you an idea of what you will experience in meeting your baby, but also encourage you to confidently make decisions that are right for your family, both in birth and parenting.

Family, hobbies:
As a native Seattleite I am partial to overcast skies, coffee, and don’t even mind the rain too much. Although, come February, I’m always dreaming of beaches and sunshine. My greatest joy in life is being with family–my husband Jamie and our 4 kids. Not far behind, I get lots of joy from alone time with a good book or an episode (or 4!) of something funny–30 Rock, Parks and Rec, and The Office are always on rotation in our house.

Favorite thing about teaching:
I love encouraging people, watching their confidence grow, and knowing that they feel supported.

Teaching style:
Supportive
Flexible
Passionate
Non-judgemental

Most important thing that you hope your students will take away from your class:
Knowledge
Confidence

What would you like to be doing in 5-10 years:
So many things! Teaching, birth assisting, traveling, learning, wine-tasting, pizza-tasting, reading, spending time with friends, and enjoying my family.
