Classes Taught: Childbirth Preparation Series (3- or 6-week), Newborn Care

The key to building strong, healthy families is support. All families deserve support! Childbirth classes are often one of the first steps along this journey.

Teaching Style: Non-judgmental, Fun, Energetic, Knowledgeable

Background:

I am a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) who has been working for Great Starts since May of 2015. Along with teaching, I am also a Certified Doula (CD) through PALS and have facilitated parent support groups within the greater Seattle community. Before diving into the birth world I was an elementary school teacher in Federal Way Public Schools and currently teach preschool at a cooperative preschool in south King County.

Favorite thing about teaching
Getting to explore labor, birth and beyond with families is a blast! I love walking alongside as folk figure out what is important to them, all while empowering themselves with information they feel is most important. I am especially passionate about figuring out ways to teach so that ALL learners can access the content. It usually equals lots of interaction and even more fun!

Personal Interests:

Outside of the birth world, I work with growing families at a local co-op preschool where I get to teach and play with one/two year olds (and their parents) a few days a week. When I’m not teaching you can find me embarking on epic adventures with my geeky husband and three small boys, trying to prefect the art of roasting marshmallows, and dreaming of the day when I can read for long uninterrupted periods of time. I also love volunteering my time with a local Girl Scout troop/chapter and have also led a few different parent support groups through PEPS and Perinatal Support of Washington.
