Class Overview

This class is for anyone who wants to learn more about the basics of baby care for the first 8 weeks of life.

Take as as a stand alone class, in combination with Breastfeeding or complementary to the Labor and Birth mini-series.

Note: This class is included in the Great Starts Series. If you are taking a series that is 3 weeks or longer (or Expecting Multiples), you do not need to register separately for Newborn Care.

Class Topics

What newborn babies are like: appearance, senses, capabilities, temperament

What babies need, and how they communicate: reading infant cues; understanding crying; and techniques for soothing

Daily care: sleeping and sleep safety, bathing and diapering, feeding, and health

Logistics

This 2.5-hour class is part of all Great Starts full birth series; including the 6-week, 3-week, HypoBirthing®, Lamaze®, Penny Simkin’s 8-wk series. This class is offered in-person and online.
