This class covers the essential information about labor and birth, and includes a brief overview of newborn care and feeding. It is recommended for experienced parents who did not take classes with their first baby, or for first-time parents with busy schedules or limited time available before baby’s estimated due date.
NOTE: The full Birth and Parenting Preparation series >> covers labor and birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care in more detail than the mini-series, and also allows more time for practicing pain skills. First-time parents may prefer this more comprehensive series, or registering for additional supplemental classes that may provide more flexible scheduling, such as Working With Labor >>, Breastfeeding >>, Newborn Care >>, Life With Baby >>, and others.

- Knowing when it’s time to go to the birthplace, or call midwife to attend a home birth

Offered in either a 2-day format with a 4-hour session each day, or 1-day format of an 8.5-hour session (1-day sessions include a 30-minute lunch break).
Typical class times are on weekends either 9am-1pm for 2-day format, 9am-5:30pm for one-day format, or occasionally afternoons, 1pm-5pm.
Cost for this class is $155. We can accept ProviderOne/DSHS as payment for qualifying pregnant mothers and their partner (Limit to one class only). Scholarships may also be available upon request.
This class is offered at several locations >> including our classroom on Rainier Ave S, Northwest Hospital in North Seattle, UW Medicine Clinic at Roosevelt, Kaiser Permanente in Bellevue, and Valley Medical Center in Renton. All classes are open to anyone, regardless of where they are giving birth.
